About Vels institute of Science Technology and Advanced Studies, Chennai Vels Institute of Science, Technology and Advanced Studies (VISTAS) is a private deemed-to-be university at Pallavaram in south Chennai. It was granted university status on 4 June 2008 under Section 3 of the UGC Act. In its second NAAC cycle the university received an A++ grade with a CGPA of 3.52, valid from October 2024 to October 2029. VISTAS offers more than 100 programmes at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels, spread across several schools. Some of the main areas are: Engineering and computing Pharmaceutical sciences Maritime studies Law Nursing and allied health sciences Education, with B.Ed. and Ph.D. programmes Management, commerce, arts and sciences Because it is a deemed university, VISTAS runs its own admission process, and each school sets its own eligibility.
