About Vardey Devi Institute of Engineering & Technology, Jind Vardey Devi Institute of Engineering and Technology (VDIET) is in Brahmanwas, a village near Julana in Jind district, Haryana. It is a rural campus, set well away from the town, and it combines engineering, polytechnic and teacher training courses on one site. Its engineering programmes are affiliated to Kurukshetra University. The courses fall into three groups: Engineering: B.Tech in Civil, Mechanical, Computer Science and Information Technology, plus M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering Polytechnic: Diplomas in Mechanical and Civil Engineering Teacher education: a B.Ed with 200 seats, affiliated to Chaudhary Ranbir Singh University, Jind, and a D.Ed (JBT) course For B.Tech Civil, candidates need Class 12 with Physics and Mathematics plus one of Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology or Computer Science, with at least 45 percent marks (40 percent for reserved categories). B.Ed seats are filled through counselling under NCTE, university and Haryana government rules, with state reservation, and are meant for Haryana residents. JBT admission goes through the counselling held by SCERT Haryana. Candidates need 50 percent in Class 12, or 45 percent for SC and BC candidates. For students from Jind, Rohtak and nearby villages, VDIET means a diploma, a degree or a teaching qualification without moving to a big city. The institute describes itself as a place where education meets practical work.
