About Tirumala Engineering College
History and Background
About Tirumala Engineering College, Guntur Tirumala Engineering College (TEC) was started in 2008 by an unusual sponsor. Tirumala Milk Products Pvt. Ltd., a dairy company run by five local entrepreneurs from farming families, set it up and funded it. The company grew into a large milk business across the southern states, and its promoters wanted to give something back to the farming families who supplied it. They chose to build an engineering college close to where they came from. The college sits on a 16-acre campus at Jonnalagadda village in Narasaraopet mandal, part of the old Guntur district, surrounded by farmland. TEC is affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Kakinada (JNTUK), and AICTE approves its intake. The college lists NBA and NAAC accreditation among its approvals. It began with 60 seats per branch, and computer science intake alone has grown to 600 seats in 2025-26. Programmes on offer: B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering, CSE (AI and Machine Learning), CSE (AI and Data Science) and Information Technology B.Tech in Electronics and Communication, Electrical and Electronics, Mechanical and Civil Engineering M.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering, and in Digital Electronics and Communication Systems Most B.Tech seats are filled through AP EAMCET (now AP EAPCET) web counselling, where the college's code is TMLN, and a share of seats goes to the management and NRI categories. The air-conditioned library holds over 21,000 volumes. It subscribes to national and international print journals and online services such as IEEE, J-Gate and DELNET, and it stays open from 8 am to 8 pm on working days. An Entrepreneurship Development Cell has worked since 2009 to connect students with industry. The campus also has an APSSDC skill development centre, an Institution's Innovation Council, hostels, a health centre, transport and playgrounds. The NSS unit holds blood grouping camps and road safety drives in nearby villages. JNTUK-sponsored faculty development programmes and international conferences are also held on campus.
