About Teri University

History and Background

About Teri University, Delhi TERI University is now called the TERI School of Advanced Studies, or TERI SAS. It began as a trust in 1998 and received deemed-to-be-university status in 1999. It grew out of The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), and for its first years it worked from TERI's premises at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi. In 2008 it moved to its own green campus at Vasant Kunj, in south Delhi. The university's focus comes from its parent body: energy, environment, sustainability and public policy. Most programmes look at these subjects through science, engineering, economics or management. Postgraduate courses include: M.Tech in Renewable Energy Engineering and Management, and in Water Science and Governance M.Sc in Environmental Studies and Resource Management, Economics, Climate Science and Policy, Geoinformatics and Plant Biotechnology MA in Public Policy and Sustainable Development, and in Sustainable Development Practice MBA in Business Sustainability and in Infrastructure At the undergraduate level, TERI SAS has added four-year honours degrees and five-year integrated master's programmes. They cover environmental studies, data science, economics, biotechnology, and energy and computer applications, along with a BBA and a BA in Policy and Development Studies. There is also a six-month online certificate in renewable energy technology, policy and management. Admission varies by programme. The MBA uses CAT or the university's own process, and other courses take students through national tests or TERI SAS's own entrance and interview. The university has partnerships with bodies such as the Geological Survey of India, and runs a centre for waste management research with the Indian Pollution Control Association.
