About St Pious X College
History and Background
About St Pious X College, Hyderabad St. Pious X Degree and PG College for Women in Hyderabad started in 1993 with just 90 students. Enrolment has since grown to around 2,500. It is a Catholic minority institution under Article 30(1) of the Constitution, run by the Society of Catechist Sisters of St. Ann, a congregation that also works in education and social service across Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The college is affiliated to Osmania University and is recognised by the UGC under Sections 2(f) and 12(B). UGC has granted it autonomous status for ten years. NAAC first accredited it with an A grade (CGPA 3.16) in January 2013 and re-accredited it with A+ (CGPA 3.38) in November 2018. It moved to the choice based credit system in 2016-17, and its students have won 53 gold medals and 94 university ranks at Osmania University over the years. Courses run at undergraduate and postgraduate level in arts, commerce, science and management, including B.A., B.Com, B.Sc and an MBA. For B.A., B.Com and B.Sc, applicants need to have passed the two-year Intermediate or an equivalent exam such as CBSE Class 12, with at least 60 percent aggregate and 40 percent in the relevant subject. Students from other states must bring an eligibility certificate from Osmania University. MBA seats in Telangana are filled on the basis of TS ICET ranks. The college has a placement cell and a career and development centre that prepare students for campus hiring.
