History and Background
About St Joseph's College of Engineering & Technology, Kottayam St. Joseph's College of Engineering and Technology, called SJCET Palai, is at Choondacherry near Palai in Kottayam district, Kerala. It was set up in 2002 by the Diocesan Technical Education Trust of the Catholic Diocese of Palai. The diocese wanted to give students in the region a chance at higher technical education, and it runs the college with a Christian ethos. SJCET is affiliated to APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU) and approved by AICTE. NAAC gave it an A grade in its first cycle. In 2024 the UGC granted it autonomous status for five years, 2024-25 to 2028-29, and KTU issued a matching order. NBA has accredited its Electronics and Communication, Mechanical, Computer Science, Civil, and Electrical and Electronics programmes, as well as its MCA. The college is also ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 certified. Courses include: B.Tech Computer Science, Electronics and Communication, Electrical and Electronics, and Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering B.Tech Mechanical and Civil Engineering M.Tech in fields such as VLSI and Embedded Systems, Structural Engineering, and Computer Science MCA and MBA B.Tech admission is through the KEAM rank list and state allotment, with the remaining seats under the management and NRI quotas. M.Tech seats are filled mainly on GATE scores. MCA admission uses the state-level entrance, and the MBA accepts KMAT, MAT and similar scores. The campus has hostels, including accommodation for NRI girls.
