About SRK Institute of Technology
History and Background
About SRK Institute of Technology, Vijayawada SRK Institute of Technology (SRKIT) is an engineering college at Enikepadu, right on National Highway 16 on the Vijayawada side of the Krishna river. Being on the highway makes it one of the easier campuses in the city to reach by bus. It was started in 2007 by the SRK Foundation, a non-profit body, on the initiative of educationist and industrialist Sri B. S. Appa Rao, who wanted rural and semi-urban students to have a good engineering college nearby. AICTE approved the institute in August 2007. It is affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Kakinada and is ISO 9001:2015 certified. The campus covers 6.57 acres with close to 28,000 square metres of built-up space, and roughly 2,200 students study here in a given year. SRKIT began with four B.Tech branches and 240 seats. The sanctioned intake is now 600 across these undergraduate programmes: Civil Engineering Electrical and Electronics Engineering Mechanical Engineering (added in 2010-11) Electronics and Communication Engineering Computer Science and Engineering, plus CSE (Data Science) and CSE (AI and Machine Learning) from 2020-21 Information Technology Postgraduate options are M.Tech in CSE and ECE, MCA, MBA and an integrated MBA. The college says it was the first private institute in the region to run the integrated MBA. The CSE department works with the LeadingIndia.AI research group of Bennett University and runs academy programmes with Cisco, Microsoft, Dell EMC and AWS. The air-conditioned central library serves all departments.
