About Sri Sivasubramaniya Nadar College of Engineering
History and Background
About Sri Sivasubramaniya Nadar College of Engineering, Kancheepuram SSN College of Engineering was set up in 1996 by Dr. Shiv Nadar, the founder of HCL. The college is at Kalavakkam, on the southern side of Chennai. The wider SSN Institutions campus there covers about 230 acres and also includes SSN's research centre and other institutions. The college is affiliated to Anna University and approved by AICTE. It has been autonomous since the 2018-19 academic year, after the status was granted in March 2018. So SSN now runs its own curriculum, examinations and grading under Anna University's degree. Undergraduate programmes include: B.E. Computer Science and Engineering and B.Tech Information Technology B.E. Electronics and Communication Engineering and Electrical and Electronics Engineering B.E. Biomedical Engineering and B.Tech Chemical Engineering Mechanical and Civil Engineering Postgraduate study covers several M.E. specialisations, along with an MBA and an MCA. The SSN Research Centre runs multidisciplinary scientific research for faculty and PhD scholars. Students from Tamil Nadu get B.E. and B.Tech seats through TNEA counselling based on Class 12 marks. M.E. admission uses GATE or TANCET, and MBA admission uses CAT or TANCET.
