About Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College
History and Background
About Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College, Coimbatore Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College (SREC) opened on 11 August 1994 at Vattamalaipalayam, in the N.G.G.O. Colony postal area of Coimbatore. It is run by the SNR Sons Charitable Trust. The UGC granted SREC autonomous status on 26 December 2007, so the college has had its own curriculum and exams for well over a decade. It is affiliated to Anna University, Chennai, and approved by AICTE. NAAC reaccredited it with an A+ grade (CGPA 3.27) for the period December 2021 to December 2026. The undergraduate list goes beyond the usual core branches: B.E. Computer Science and Engineering, and B.Tech Information Technology B.E. Electronics and Communication, Electrical and Electronics, and Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering B.E. Mechanical, Civil and Aeronautical Engineering B.E. Biomedical Engineering At the postgraduate level there are M.E./M.Tech programmes, including one in nanoscience and technology, and doctoral research in several departments. B.E. and B.Tech admission is through TNEA counselling, which is based on Class 12 marks, plus the management quota. M.E. and M.Tech seats take TANCET or GATE scores. The college also hosts an AICTE IDEA Lab, an open workshop where students can build and test hardware prototypes.
