About Sir M Visvesvaraya Institute of Technology(MVIT)
History and Background
About Sir M Visvesvaraya Institute of Technology (Sir MVIT), Bangalore Sir MVIT is spread over 133 acres on Ballari Road near the Air Force Station at Yelahanka, in north Bengaluru. That puts it close to Kempegowda International Airport and about 21 km from Bangalore City railway station. The Sri Krishnadevaraya Educational Trust founded the institute in 1986. For its first twelve years the college was affiliated to Bangalore University. It moved to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) in 1998 and has stayed there since. It is approved by AICTE, holds an A grade from NAAC, and six of its programmes carry NBA accreditation. VTU has recognised every department as a research centre, so PhD work is possible on campus. The institute offers thirteen B.E. programmes, among them: Computer Science and Engineering, including Data Science and IoT and Cybersecurity options Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Electronics and Communication, Electrical and Electronics, and Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering Civil Engineering and Biotechnology At the postgraduate level there are M.Tech courses in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, Electronics, Biotechnology and Biochemical Engineering, and Construction Technology, plus an MBA and an MCA. B.E. seats are filled through Karnataka CET and COMEDK UGET, while MBA and MCA admissions go through PGCET or national tests such as CAT. The campus has about 3,500 students.
