About Shri S'ad Vidya Mandal Institute of Technology
History and Background
About Shri S'ad Vidya Mandal Institute of Technology, Bharuch Shri S'ad Vidya Mandal Institute of Technology, known as SVMIT, opened in August 1996 in Bharuch, south Gujarat, as a self-financed engineering college. It is run by the Shri S'ad Vidya Mandal, a trust founded in 1954 with the blessings of Swami Shri Atulanandji. The trust set out to give students in Bharuch and nearby areas good higher education at fees they could afford. It is registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860, and the Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950, and also runs arts, science and other colleges in the town. SVMIT is approved by AICTE and the Government of Gujarat. It has been affiliated to Gujarat Technological University (GTU) since the 2008-09 academic year. The first batch to graduate under GTU finished in 2011-12, and several SVMIT students have since appeared in the university toppers' lists. The college offers B.E. programmes in: Computer Science and Engineering and Information Technology Electronics and Communication, and Electrical and Electronics Engineering Chemical Engineering and Environmental Engineering Mechanical and Civil Engineering Admission to the first year of B.E. goes through Gujarat's centralised ACPC counselling, which uses GUJCET and Class 12 marks. Postgraduate engineering admission, where offered, is based on GATE.
