History and Background
About Shri Ram Murti Smarak College of Engineering Technology and Research, Bareilly Shri Ram Murti Smarak College of Engineering, Technology and Research (SRMS CETR) is a self-financed college at Ram Murti Puram, 13 km out of Bareilly on the Bareilly-Nainital Highway near Bhojipura. It was founded in 2008 and is run by the Shri Ram Murti Smarak Trust, a charitable trust formed in 1990 in memory of Ram Murti, a freedom fighter, former MP and former Uttar Pradesh minister. The trust runs a large group of institutions in Bareilly, Lucknow and Unnao. In Bareilly alone these include SRMS College of Engineering and Technology (1996), a pharmacy college (2000), the SRMS Institute of Medical Sciences (2005), nursing and paramedical colleges, and the R.R. Cancer and Research Centre. CETR is the second engineering college the trust opened in the city. The college is affiliated to Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), Lucknow, and its programmes are approved by the AICTE. It teaches across engineering, management, computer applications and hospitality: B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering, including Cyber Security B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering BCA and BBA Bachelor of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (BHMCT) B.Tech seats at AKTU colleges are filled through the state counselling process, which uses JEE Main ranks, and the college also publishes an admissions helpline for direct queries. The trust is known locally for its charitable work, including scholarships for students, free beds at the SRMS hospital, a hospital-on-wheels screening service and free vocational training for young people in trades such as X-ray and ECG work, plumbing and electrical fitting.
