About School of Management Studies, Punjabi University, Patiala The School of Management Studies (SMS) is a teaching department of Punjabi University, Patiala, set up in 1969. Punjabi University is a state university and is accredited by NAAC with an A grade (CGPA 3.37 on a four-point scale). The school started its MBA to fill gaps in management education in the country. It aims to train professional managers for the corporate sector. It was the first in the country to offer an MBA through distance learning for senior defence officers and working executives. Today it runs both full-time and distance programmes. Programmes on offer include: MBA, the two-year full-time programme MBA in International Business Dual-degree MBA options PhD in management Teaching is done by the university's own faculty along with visiting experts from industry and other institutes. The school has signed MoUs with several foreign universities for academic exchange. Its training modules cover decision-making methods, productivity and innovation. Admission to the MBA is through Punjabi University's admission notice, issued each year. It lays out the entrance test or national scores accepted, the eligibility marks and the seat matrix, and the state's management entrance can be one of the routes.
