About SA Engineering College
History and Background
About SA Engineering College, Chennai S.A. Engineering College is in Thiruverkadu, a western suburb of Chennai. The Dharma Naidu Educational and Charitable Trust set it up in the 1998-99 academic year and named it after Smt. Sakunthala Ammal, which is where the "S.A." in the name comes from. The college is affiliated to Anna University, Chennai, and approved by AICTE. It received autonomous status in 2019-20, so it now sets its own curriculum and conducts its own examinations. NAAC has accredited it with an A grade, and several programmes hold NBA accreditation. Courses at the undergraduate level include: B.E. Computer Science and Engineering and B.Tech Information Technology B.E. Electronics and Communication Engineering and Electrical and Electronics Engineering B.E. Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering For postgraduates there are M.E. programmes such as Computer Science and Engineering, an MBA and an MCA. Admission to B.E. and B.Tech goes through TNEA counselling based on Class 12 marks, with the remaining seats filled through the management quota. M.E., MBA and MCA seats take TANCET scores, and GATE and NIMCET results are accepted where they apply. The campus has indoor sports facilities, and the college hosted an IEEE international conference in 2026.
