About RNS Institute of Technology
History and Background
About RNS Institute of Technology, Bangalore RNS Institute of Technology, or RNSIT, is at Channasandra in Bengaluru. Dr. R. N. Shetty founded it in 2001. He was an industrialist with businesses in construction, manufacturing, hotels, automobiles, power and IT services. The college is run by the R N Shetty Trust as part of the RNS Group of Institutions. RNSIT is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) and approved by AICTE. It has accreditation from NAAC and NBA and has appeared in the NIRF and ARIIA rankings. The college says its students regularly earn VTU university ranks. It has about 5,600 students and more than 300 faculty members. There are eight undergraduate engineering branches, two postgraduate courses and nine research and development centres. B.E. programmes include: Computer Science and Engineering and Information Science and Engineering Electronics and Communication, Electrical and Electronics, and Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering Mechanical and Civil Engineering Most B.E. seats are filled through Karnataka CET (KCET) counselling run by the Karnataka Examinations Authority. COMEDK UGET and the management quota fill the rest. Postgraduate admission follows the state PGCET or GATE routes. Outside class, RNSIT has an active calendar of sports and cultural events. Laboratories in each department support project work and the research centres, and a placement cell runs campus recruitment.
