History and Background
About PTR College of Engineering & Technology, Madurai PTR College of Engineering and Technology is on the Madurai–Tirumangalam Road, at Thanapandiyan Nagar near Austinpatti, on the southwestern side of Madurai. It opened in 2001 and is run by the Sasikala Educational Trust. AICTE approves the college, it is affiliated to Anna University in Chennai, and it holds ISO 9001 certification. It started with five core B.E. branches and has added a few newer ones. For the 2026–27 academic year, the college lists these B.E. programmes: Computer Science and Engineering, and Cyber Security Electronics and Communication Engineering Electrical and Electronics Engineering Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering Bio-Medical Engineering B.E. admission goes through the Anna University single-window counselling (TNEA). Students are ranked on their Tamil Nadu Higher Secondary marks, with state reservation rules for BC, MBC, SC, ST and other categories. Seats are also set aside for differently abled students, ex-servicemen's wards, sportspersons and candidates from other states. GATE scores count for postgraduate study. The college's labs range from desktop computer labs to CNC milling and CNC lathe machines in the mechanical workshop. A placement cell helps students prepare for campus recruitment. Faculty also advise students on co-curricular activities.
