History and Background
About PSCMR College of Engineering & Technology, Vijayawada The full name is Potti Sriramulu Chalavadi Mallikarjuna Rao College of Engineering and Technology, but nearly everyone in Vijayawada calls it PSCMRCET. The college is at Kothapet and opened in 2008. It is run by the Sri Kanyaka Parameswari Vissamsetti Venkataratnam Hindu High Schools Committee, a body started by local philanthropists in 1906 that ran schools for about a century before it opened an engineering college. All of its courses are approved by AICTE. The college is affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Kakinada, recognised by UGC under Sections 2(f) and 12(B), and accredited by NAAC. It received autonomous status in 2023, so it now frames its own syllabus and exams within JNTUK's rules. Programmes on offer are B.Tech in several engineering branches, M.Tech, MBA and MCA. Engineering is the main intake, and the college publishes an academic audit report each year with details of its departments. Some of its recognitions are unusual for an engineering college. It won an AICTE award in 2023, and it has entries in the Limca Book of Records (2015) and Guinness World Records (2021) for blood donation drives held with the Indian Red Cross Society. A governing body, an academic council and a finance committee drawn from the parent committee oversee the college.
