About Ponjesly College of Engineering
History and Background
About Ponjesly College of Engineering, Kanyakumari Ponjesly College of Engineering was founded in 2004 at Nagercoil, in Kanyakumari district at the southern tip of Tamil Nadu. It is run by the Ponjesly Charity Trust, formed in 1991 by Shri Pon. Robert Singh, an industrialist. The trust opened Ponjesly Public Higher Secondary School in 1996, then the engineering college, and a college of education in 2005. The group has since added other institutions, including a hospital. The college is approved by AICTE and affiliated to Anna University, Chennai. It is recognised by the UGC under Sections 2(f) and 12(B), and NAAC has accredited it with an A grade. The undergraduate courses cover the main engineering branches: B.E. Computer Science and Engineering and B.Tech Information Technology B.E. Electronics and Communication, and Electrical and Electronics Engineering B.E. Mechanical, Automobile and Civil Engineering There are also M.E. programmes for graduates. B.E. and B.Tech seats are filled through TNEA counselling, which ranks students on their Class 12 marks, and through the management quota. M.E. admission uses TANCET or GATE scores. Ponjesly's stated aim is to give students the knowledge and skills to handle a changing job market.
