About PGDAV College
History and Background
About PGDAV College, Delhi Pannalal Girdharlal Dayanand Anglo-Vedic College, or PGDAV, is on Ring Road at Nehru Nagar in south Delhi. The DAV College Managing Committee founded it in 1957, soon after Independence, and it is one of the older colleges of the University of Delhi. It belongs to the DAV movement, the reform tradition that grew from Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati and the Arya Samaj in the 19th century. The DAV network today includes a university and more than 900 schools and colleges in India and abroad. PGDAV is co-educational and accredited by NAAC. It shares its campus with PGDAV College (Evening), which runs as a separate college with its own principal. The day college offers thirteen undergraduate courses and four postgraduate courses under DU and follows the university's four-year undergraduate structure. Undergraduate admission is through CUET-UG and DU's common seat allocation. The college puts out notices and webinars for applicants each year, and it handles postgraduate admission separately under the university's rules. Fee details for each academic session are published on the college website. The college sees itself as blending traditional values with a modern outlook, with service to society at the centre. Campus life includes an active students' union with elections every year, a placement cell and a range of student societies. Its governing body includes university nominees, DAV representatives and teacher representatives from both the day and evening colleges. For students who want a DU college with a long history and a large alumni network in south Delhi, PGDAV has more than six decades of graduating batches.
