About Pavender Bharathidasan College of Engineering & Technology
History and Background
About Pavender Bharathidasan College of Engineering & Technology, Trichy Pavendar Bharathidasan College of Engineering and Technology (PABCET) in Tiruchirappalli was founded in 1998 by the Saraswathi Educational and Health Trust. The trust was formed a year earlier with Mr. A. M. Raman, IAS (retd.), as its adviser. The founding father, the late Thiru Manickam Udaiyar, came from Amaradakki, a village on the Pudukkottai coast. The trust named its group of institutions after the Tamil poet Bharathidasan and set out to serve students from rural and economically weaker families. The college is affiliated to Anna University, Chennai, and approved by AICTE. It started with Computer Science and Engineering and Electronics and Communication Engineering in 1998 and added more branches over time. Its buildings, classrooms, labs and workshops follow AICTE norms. The library stays open beyond college hours. Programmes now offered include: B.E. Computer Science and Engineering and B.Tech Information Technology B.E. Electronics and Communication, Electrical and Electronics, and Civil Engineering B.Tech Biotechnology and B.Tech Textile Technology Postgraduate engineering and management courses B.E. and B.Tech admission is through TNEA counselling, which ranks students on Class 12 marks, along with the management quota. Postgraduate seats are filled using TANCET, and GATE and CAT scores are accepted where they apply. The motto of the institution is "Learning for Excellence".
