About OP Jindal Global University
History and Background
About OP Jindal Global University, Sonipat O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU) is a private, non-profit university on Sonipat-Narela Road near Jagdishpur village in Sonipat, Haryana, just north of the Delhi border. Naveen Jindal founded it in 2009 as a philanthropic project in memory of his father, O.P. Jindal, and he is now its Chancellor. In 2020 the Ministry of Education named JGU an Institution of Eminence under the UGC regulations for private institutions. The campus is fully residential. The university reports more than 16,000 students, over 1,100 full-time faculty members and about 2,900 administrative staff. Teaching is spread across twelve schools, which together run more than 30 undergraduate programmes, over 20 postgraduate programmes and a doctoral programme. Some of the schools are: Jindal Global Law School Jindal Global Business School Jindal School of International Affairs and Jindal School of Government and Public Policy Jindal School of Liberal Arts and Humanities, and Jindal School of Psychology and Counselling Jindal School of Journalism and Communication, and Jindal School of Art and Architecture Schools of Banking and Finance, Environment and Sustainability, Languages and Literature, and Public Health and Human Development Applications for undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral and blended or online programmes are made through the university's online admissions portal, and each school sets its own eligibility rules. The online offering includes master's-level courses in areas such as strategic communication and educational leadership. JGU places a strong focus on international exposure, with exchange and research partnerships with universities abroad and students from many countries.
