History and Background
About NRI Institute of Technology, Guntur NRI Institute of Technology, usually called NRIIT, sits on 10.94 acres in Visadala village of Medikondur mandal, about 9 km from Guntur city in Andhra Pradesh. The campus is surrounded by chilli and cotton fields, so it is quiet compared with the colleges inside town. MNK Educational Society set it up in 2008 under its chairman, Sri Alapati Ravindra. The college is now autonomous. It holds permanent affiliation to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Kakinada (JNTUK), is approved by AICTE and is recognised by UGC under Section 2(f). Around 4,200 students are enrolled across its programmes. Undergraduate engineering is the bulk of the intake. B.Tech branches include Computer Science and Engineering, CSE with Data Science, CSE with AI and Machine Learning, Information Technology, Electronics and Communication Engineering, VLSI and Civil Engineering. At postgraduate level the college runs M.Tech, MBA and MCA. Seats for B.Tech are filled through AP EAPCET (EAMCET) counselling, with lateral entry through AP ECET, while MBA and MCA admission goes through AP ICET and M.Tech through AP PGECET. Category B seats are filled by the management under state rules. On the practical side, the campus has an auditorium, outdoor grounds, a canteen, hostel rooms with a mess, its own bus fleet and generator backup. Labs cover areas such as IoT and embedded systems. An Entrepreneurship Development Cell helps students who want to turn a project idea into a start-up, with mentoring, help on project reports and links to banks and training partners.
