About Nirmala College of Pharmacy
History and Background
About Nirmala College of Pharmacy, Guntur Nirmala College of Pharmacy (NCPA) is a Catholic minority institution run by the Society of Catechist Sisters of St. Ann, Hyderabad. Its campus is at Atmakur village in Mangalagiri mandal, Guntur district, on about 3.5 acres with more than 7,000 sq m of built-up space. It is a self-financing college affiliated to Acharya Nagarjuna University and approved by AICTE and the Pharmacy Council of India. The college grew one course at a time. D.Pharm came first in 2004, followed by B.Pharm in 2006, M.Pharm in Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Analysis in 2010, M.Pharm in Pharmacology in 2011 and Pharm.D in 2013. Current programmes: Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm) Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) M.Pharm in Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Analysis and Pharmacology Pharm.D and Pharm.D (Post Baccalaureate) Teaching is split among departments of Pharmaceutical Analysis, Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Phytochemistry, Pharmaceutical Technology, Pharmacology and Pharmacy Practice, and Regulatory Affairs, with support from life sciences, mathematics and computer science. There are about 30 faculty members, four of them with doctorates, and 45 support staff. Graduates so far include 410 D.Pharm, 240 B.Pharm and 36 M.Pharm students registered with the Andhra Pradesh State Pharmacy Council. In counselling, the college code is NRML for B.Pharm and Pharm.D, NRML1 for M.Pharm and NCPA for D.Pharm. The college has 22 laboratories, a CPCSEA-approved animal house, a herbal garden and an instrument room with an HPLC system, UV-visible spectrophotometer, viscometer and dissolution testers. Other facilities include a 600-seat auditorium, a computer lab with more than 65 systems, a library with over 7,500 volumes and 55 print journals, a girls' hostel, a gym and college transport.
