About Ness Wadia College of Commerce - Pune
History and Background
About Ness Wadia College of Commerce - Pune Ness Wadia College of Commerce is on the Wadia College campus off V. K. Joag Path in Pune. It was inaugurated on 16 July 1969 by Dr. H. V. Pataskar, then Vice-Chancellor of the University of Pune, after pre-degree commerce classes had begun that June in a building next to Nowrosjee Wadia College. The college got its own building in 1971. It is named after Sir Ness Wadia (1873-1952), the industrialist who led Bombay Dyeing and was a supporter of the Modern Education Society, which has managed the college since the start. The college is affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University. NAAC accredited it with an A grade in 2004 and re-accredited it with an A in 2014, and the university has given it its Best College award. More than 5,000 students study here, including students from over 20 countries, and teaching runs all the way from Class 11 to the Ph.D. Programmes include: B.Com, and BBA, BBA (International Business) and BBA (Computer Applications) B.Voc in Banking, Finance and Insurance with Actuarial Studies M.Com, M.Phil and Ph.D. at a university-approved research centre PG diplomas in Banking, Finance and Insurance and in International Business, and a Diploma in Taxation Law Junior college commerce under the Maharashtra State Board Undergraduate admissions are made through the college's own online process and merit lists each year. Students can also take add-on courses such as ACCA, Tally, digital marketing and short courses in German, French, Spanish and Chinese through the college's Centre for English and Foreign Languages. In the India Today rankings for 2020 the college was placed second in Pune for commerce and 17th in India for BBA.
