About Nehru Arts and Science College
History and Background
About Nehru Arts and Science College, Coimbatore Nehru Arts and Science College (NASC) is part of the Nehru Group of Institutions, the education group founded by the late P.K. Das that now runs around 20 colleges across Coimbatore and Kerala. The campus, known as Nehru Gardens, is on the Palakkad Road side of the city near Kuniamuthur and Thirumalayampalayam. Its main auditorium is named after the founder. NASC is an autonomous college affiliated to Bharathiar University and holds UGC recognition under Sections 2(f) and 12(B). In its third NAAC cycle it was accredited with an A+ grade and a CGPA of 3.50. The college reports a place in the 101–150 band of the NIRF college ranking and is supported under the DBT STAR College Scheme. It also carries ISO 9001:2015 certification and a four-star rating from the Institution Innovation Council. About 3,500 students study here across 27 undergraduate, 8 postgraduate and 13 research programmes. Subjects fall into arts, life sciences, computing, creative sciences, commerce and management. Costume Design and Fashion, Criminology and Forensic Science, and Computer Science B.A. Tourism and Travel Management BBA with options such as Logistics and Aviation Management, International Business and Computer Applications B.Com, BCA, M.Sc., M.S.W. and Ph.D. The School of Management is one of the more active parts of the campus, with its own student association, NEFMA, which holds events like an annual Ideathon and a marketing fest. The BBA department also takes students to an outbound leadership camp. Admission to undergraduate and postgraduate courses is made directly by the college on the basis of qualifying marks, following Bharathiar University eligibility rules.
