About Motilal Nehru College
History and Background
About Motilal Nehru College, Delhi Motilal Nehru College is a constituent college of the University of Delhi on Benito Juarez Marg, in the South Campus area of New Delhi. It began in 1964 in a government school building with about 300 students. In 1989 it moved to its present campus, and it celebrated its golden jubilee in 2014. It is now one of the largest DU colleges, with more than 3,000 students from across India and from other countries. The college teaches undergraduate courses in the humanities, social sciences and commerce, among other subjects, under the University of Delhi's four-year undergraduate structure, and it also has postgraduate students. Departments such as Commerce and History publish their own course lists, faculty details and timetables each semester. Undergraduate admission is through CUET-UG and the university's common seat allocation. The college explains on its website how CUET merit scores are calculated, and it has an admission grievance and counselling committee to help applicants who run into problems. Students in their second year and above pay annual fees according to notices posted each session. The campus has a large library, lecture theatres, a conference room with presentation equipment, sports facilities and free Wi-Fi throughout. Student life is busy. The college has an elected students' union, a Women's Development Cell that publishes the e-magazine Astitva, and an annual magazine called Navaagat. Over sixty years, alumni have gone into administration, the judiciary, business and the creative fields.
