About Mar Athanasius College of Engineering
History and Background
About Mar Athanasius College of Engineering, Kothamangalam Mar Athanasius College of Engineering (MACE) is in Kothamangalam, a town in the eastern part of Ernakulam district, Kerala. It opened in 1961 with 120 seats split across Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. More branches and postgraduate courses were added over the following decades. The Mar Athanasius College Association, a registered charitable society, set up the college and still manages it. MACE is approved by AICTE and affiliated to APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU), so its syllabus and degree examinations follow the KTU scheme. The undergraduate side covers B.Tech in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics, Electronics and Communication, and Computer Science and Engineering. Postgraduate options include M.Tech specialisations such as Structural Engineering, Thermal Power Engineering, VLSI and Power Electronics, along with an MCA programme and PhD research. B.Tech admission runs through the KEAM rank list and state allotment. M.Tech seats are filled mainly on GATE scores, and MCA through the state-level entrance for the course. The 62-acre campus has five main buildings: the administrative block, the Founders Block, the M P Varghese Block, the Electronics block and a block for PG courses and research. The students' national-level techfest is held every year. Its 2026 edition ran on 25 and 26 September.
