About Mahendra Engineering College
History and Background
About Mahendra Engineering College, Namakkal Mahendra Engineering College sits on the Salem-Tiruchengode Highway at Mahendhirapuri, Mallasamudram, in Namakkal district. It was started in 1995 and is the engineering college of the Mahendra Educational Institutions group, which runs several colleges in the area. The college is affiliated to Anna University, Chennai, and approved by AICTE. Autonomous status was first conferred on 17 January 2013, and the UGC later extended it. That lets the college draw up its own syllabus and conduct its own examinations, while degrees are still awarded by Anna University. NAAC has accredited it with an A++ grade, and several programmes have NBA accreditation. For a college in a semi-rural location, its branch list is wide: B.E. Computer Science and Engineering and B.Tech Information Technology B.E. Electronics and Communication, Electrical and Electronics, and Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering B.E. Mechanical, Civil, Aeronautical and Agricultural Engineering There are also M.E. programmes, an MBA and an MCA, along with PhD research in some departments. B.E. and B.Tech seats are filled through TNEA counselling, which is based on Class 12 marks, and through the management quota. Postgraduate admission uses TANCET scores, and GATE and CAT scores are also accepted where relevant.
