History and Background
About Mahatma Gandhi Mission’s Medical College (MGM Medical College), Aurangabad MGM Medical College in Aurangabad, now officially Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, has trained doctors since 1990. It sits inside the MGM campus at N-6, CIDCO, and is one of the two campuses of MGM Institute of Health Sciences (MGMIHS), a deemed to be university with its headquarters at Kamothe in Navi Mumbai. The university status came through a Government of India notification in 2006. The college belongs to the Mahatma Gandhi Mission trust, founded in 1982 in Nanded by Kamalkishor N. Kadam, an IIT Bombay engineer and a former Education Minister of Maharashtra. The trust later spread to Aurangabad, Navi Mumbai, Parbhani and Noida with schools and colleges in medicine, nursing, engineering, law and the arts. MGMIHS was accredited by NAAC with an A++ grade (CGPA 3.55) in its second cycle in 2022, and UGC has placed it in Category I. Courses at the Aurangabad campus cover medicine and allied health: MBBS MD and MS in clinical and pre-clinical subjects DM and M.Ch super speciality courses B.Sc in Cardiac Perfusion, Dialysis Technology, Medical Imaging Technology and Medical Lab Technology Since MGMIHS is a deemed university, MBBS seats at MGM Medical College Aurangabad are allotted through NEET-UG and the deemed university counselling run by MCC under DGHS. MD, MS, DM and M.Ch seats are filled through NEET-PG and NEET-SS in the same way. Allied health and other university programmes follow MGMIHS's own admission notices, which list eligibility and intake for each course.
