History and Background
About KLE Society's BV Bhoomaraddi College of Engineering & Technology, Hubli B. V. Bhoomaraddi College of Engineering and Technology, known for decades simply as BVB, was founded in 1947 by the KLE Society, Belagavi. The aim was to bring modern engineering education to northern Karnataka. It started as a polytechnic, moved to Hubballi in 1948 and was upgraded to a full engineering college the same year. Over the next sixty years BVB became one of the best-known engineering colleges in the state. It gained academic autonomy from the UGC in 2007. Under the leadership of Dr. Prabhakar Kore, the college then set out to become a university. In 2014 the Karnataka government recognised it as a state private university, KLE Technological University (KLE Tech). The change took effect from the 2015-16 academic year, and BVB's faculty and staff moved to the university. The Hubballi campus remains its main campus. Programmes now offered on the Hubballi campus include: B.E./B.Tech in Computer Science, Electronics and Communication, Electrical and Electronics, and Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering Mechanical, Automobile, Industrial and Production, and Civil Engineering Biotechnology and B.Arch M.Tech, MCA and doctoral research Karnataka students usually come in through KCET counselling. Other seats are filled through the university's own admission process, and JEE Main scores are also used. B.Arch needs a NATA score, and M.Tech admission is through GATE or the state PGCET. A 2018 MIT report on engineering education named BVB (KLE Tech) as one of five institutions worldwide to watch for undergraduate engineering education.
