History and Background
About Rajarambapu Institute of Technology, Sangli Rajarambapu Institute of Technology, known on campus as RIT, is at Rajaramnagar near Islampur in Sangli district, Maharashtra. It opened in 1983 as the College of Engineering, Sakharale, and was later renamed. The Kasegaon Education Society runs it. RIT became autonomous in 2011-12, and Shivaji University, Kolhapur, granted it empowered autonomous status from 2022-23. That means the institute writes its own curriculum and conducts its own exams, while degrees are still awarded through Shivaji University. The college offers B.Tech programmes in branches such as Computer Science and Engineering, Civil, Mechanical and Automobile Engineering, along with newer options like AI and Machine Learning. Postgraduates can take M.Tech courses and an MBA, and the society also runs diploma courses. B.Tech admission is through the Maharashtra CAP process using MHT CET or JEE Main scores. M.Tech admission takes GATE, and MBA admission uses the MAH MBA CET. Being outside a big city is part of RIT's character. The college publishes annual reports and NBA documents on its website for anyone checking the programmes.
