About Kamla Nehru Mahavidyalaya
History and Background
About Kamla Nehru Mahavidyalaya, Nagpur Kamla Nehru Mahavidyalaya, often called KNC, is at Sakkardara Square in Nagpur. Amar Sewa Mandal set it up in 1983, and the founder was the late Govindraoji Wanjari. The Wanjari family still leads the managing body, and the college is affiliated to Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University. NAAC has re-accredited the college with an A+ grade and a CGPA of 3.53. Over four decades it has grown from a general degree college into one that teaches science, commerce, arts and management at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral level. Teachers here have published more than 300 research papers in refereed journals over a recent five-year period, and the college has links with the University of Huddersfield in the UK and the Asia Pacific Quality Network. Programmes include: B.Sc, including B.Sc Computer Science, and B.Com BBA and BCA MBA and MCA M.Sc in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Electronics, Computer Science, Zoology, Botany, Environmental Science, Microbiology, Biochemistry and Biotechnology M.A. in English, Marathi, Political Science, Economics, Sociology, History and Home Economics Ph.D. in Chemistry, Physics, Electronics, Computer Science, Mathematics, English and Commerce BBA, BCA, MBA and MCA seats are filled through the Maharashtra CET and CAP process, with the college publishing its own merit lists for seats left after CAP. Other undergraduate and postgraduate courses follow university rules, and the college holds spot admissions when PG seats remain. Students take part in sports, leadership training, industrial visits and cultural events such as a state-level solo singing competition.
