About JZ Shah Arts and HP Desai Commerce College, Surat J.Z. Shah Arts and H.P. Desai Commerce College, widely called Amroli College, is at Amroli near Utran on the northern side of Surat, Gujarat. It opened on 1 July 1991 and is run by the Jivan Jyot Trust. The college is affiliated to Veer Narmad South Gujarat University (VNSGU), which frames the syllabus and holds the semester examinations. Teaching is limited to two undergraduate streams, which keeps the college focused on general arts and commerce education: B.A. (Bachelor of Arts) B.Com. (Bachelor of Commerce) The college has more than 4,000 students on its rolls. Beyond the degree, students can choose from 37 short certificate courses approved by VNSGU, which run each term and add job-related skills to the regular syllabus. The college has completed several NAAC cycles and has submitted its self-study report for the fourth cycle. It also takes part in NIRF data submission. Admission to the first year of B.A. and B.Com. follows the VNSGU admission process for affiliated colleges, and the college publishes its prospectus, examination schedules and notices on its website. Students can apply for central and state scholarship schemes, including the PM-Vidyalaxmi scheme, through the college. The state's free coaching programme for UPSC and GPSC examinations is also advertised to students. The campus has lecture rooms with digital teaching aids, a computer laboratory, a library, sports equipment and parking.
