About JSS Dental College
History and Background
About JSS Dental College, Mysore JSS Dental College and Hospital is in Mysuru, Karnataka, on the JSS Medical Institutions campus, which covers more than 38 acres. About five acres of that land are set aside only for the dental college and its hospital. The college started in the 1986-87 academic year and is run under the JSS Mahavidyapeetha. Its affiliation has changed twice. It began under the University of Mysore in 1986-87, moved to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka, in 1996-97, and since 2008-09 has been a constituent college of JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research (JSS AHER), a deemed to be university in Mysuru. The college is recognised by the Dental Council of India and the Government of India. The courses on offer are: BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) MDS in nine specialities Postgraduate diplomas in five specialities BDS and MDS seats are filled through NEET, and seat allotment for Karnataka quota seats happens through KEA counselling, with JSS AHER publishing notices for allotted candidates each year. Students train in the attached dental hospital, and the college puts weight on oral health care for people who are less well served. Mysuru is about 150 km from Bengaluru and is well connected by road and rail. Separate hostels are available on campus for men and women, and students share facilities with the medical college and other JSS health science institutions nearby.
