History and Background
About Jharkhand Rai University, Ranchi Jharkhand Rai University (JRU) is a private state university at Raja Ulatu, Namkum, on the edge of Ranchi. It was set up under the Jharkhand Rai University Act passed by the Jharkhand State Legislature and started functioning in 2012. The university has said from the start that it wants to build a talent pool for Jharkhand itself, and much of its course list reflects the state's economy, from mining to farming. Teaching runs from diplomas to doctoral degrees. A sample of the programmes on offer: B.Tech in Computer Science, AI and ML, and Mining Engineering Diploma in Mining Engineering B.Sc (Hons) Agriculture and M.Sc Agriculture (Agronomy) B.Pharm and D.Pharm B.Sc in Medical Lab Technology and Radiology BBA, BCA and MBA BA LLB and LLB The Department of Mining Engineering, set up in 2014, is one of the more distinctive parts of JRU, given how much of Jharkhand's industry depends on mining. It has its own lab, and the agriculture programmes use dedicated farm land on campus. The university also keeps a museum among its facilities. Every class is assigned a teacher as a mentor under the university's mentorship programme, who follows the group through the course. Admission is handled directly by the university for most programmes, based on the eligibility marks for each course, with entrance-based routes where a regulator requires them.
