About JCT College of Engineering and Technology
History and Background
About JCT College of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore JCT College of Engineering and Technology is at Pichanur in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, and is run by the Shri Jagannath Educational Health and Charitable Trust. It is the engineering college of the JCT group. The group also runs JCT College of Arts and Science and JCT Polytechnic College, and together the three teach more than 7,000 students. The trust says its aim is to offer affordable education, particularly to students from rural and underserved areas. The college is autonomous, approved by AICTE and affiliated to Anna University, Chennai. It is accredited by NAAC with an A grade, its eligible engineering programmes carry NBA accreditation, and it is ISO 9001:2015 certified. Programmes include: Four-year B.E. and B.Tech degrees in a range of engineering branches M.E. in Structural Engineering, Power Electronics and Computer Science and Engineering Ph.D. research in electrical and other core engineering areas Most B.E. and B.Tech seats are filled through Anna University's TNEA counselling under college code 2769, and the college also publishes guidelines for direct admission. Applicants need Class 12 with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry and at least 45 percent marks, or 40 percent for reserved categories. Diploma and B.Sc. holders with Mathematics can enter the second year through lateral entry. M.E. admission follows Anna University norms and TANCET counselling, and Ph.D. applicants need a first-class M.E. or M.Tech. The college has signed an MoU with Dongguk University in Seoul for academic and research collaboration. The campus has ICT-enabled classrooms, laboratories and workshops, a digital library with e-journals and NDLI access, hostels with Wi-Fi, and indoor and outdoor sports facilities. A GPS-tracked bus fleet serves Coimbatore and Palakkad. Each year students organise a national-level technical symposium and a two-day cultural festival.
