Jayaram College of Engineering and Technology says it was formed on 14 November 1994 under the Gandhi Rural Development Educational Trust, with Er. M. Subramaniam as chairman. It started with three undergraduate courses, Mechanical, Electronics and Communication, and Computer Science, then affiliated to Bharathidasan University. The campus site lists later courses in Electronics and Instrumentation, Information Technology, Electrical and Electronics, and postgraduate MCA and M.E. programmes.
