History and Background
About Institute of Fine Arts, Ghaziabad The International Institute of Fine Arts (IIFA) is an art and design college in Modinagar, in Ghaziabad district of the Delhi NCR. Satish and Abha Modi set it up in May 2000 to give young artists a place to train, experiment and show their work. In its silver jubilee year the institute opened the Modi IFA Art Gallery, its first public gallery. The main degree here is the four-year Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.), affiliated to Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut. Students can follow one of these streams: Painting Applied Art Fashion Design Textile Design Next to the degree, IIFA runs a diploma in Photography and an advanced diploma in Computer Graphics and 3D Animation. Over 400 students are enrolled across these courses. What makes the institute a little different is its UK link. It has MoUs with the University of the Arts London and the Royal Drawing School, London. Each year four alumni of the Royal Drawing School's postgraduate drawing year come to Modinagar for a three-month residency, working as artists and teaching drawing to foundation-year students. Visiting British teachers support the permanent faculty during the rest of the year as well. Students who score at least 50 percent in aggregate in Class 12 can apply, and those waiting for board results are also allowed to send a form. Applications are accepted online or on paper with the prospectus. After the form is received the institute holds its own admission test and informs candidates of the result directly. Only one application per student is allowed.
