It is recognized by the All India Institute of Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi, and the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. The institute is affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya (RGPV) in Bhopal and offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs. At the undergraduate level, IIST offers Bachelor's degrees in various fields, including Computer Science Engineering (CSE), Information Technology (IT), Electronics and Communication (EC), Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. For postgraduate studies, students can pursue a Master's degree in CSE, Machine Design, and Digital Communication.
