About IIS University
History and Background
About IIS University, Jaipur IIS (deemed to be University) in Jaipur began in 1995 as the International College for Girls (ICG), founded by Dr Ashok Gupta. He had earlier set up Maheshwari Public School in 1977 and India International School in 1990, the first institution of the Council for International Amity. In 2009 the Ministry of Human Resource Development granted ICG deemed university status under Section 3 of the UGC Act, under the name IIS University. ICG continues as its constituent unit, on the campus at Gurukul Marg, SFS, Mansarovar. The university is mainly a women's institution and is recognised by the UGC and accredited by NAAC. The Ministry of Education has placed it in Category A, and some of its courses carry NCTE and RCI approval. It offers more than 80 programmes at undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral, diploma and certificate level, many now following the four-year undergraduate structure under NEP 2020. Programme areas include: Sciences: zoology, botany, biotechnology, environmental science, physics, mathematics, statistics and geography Computing and management: BCA, MCA, BBA and MBA with options such as business analytics and international business Commerce: B.Com (Hons.) in accounting and taxation or financial studies, and M.Com Social sciences, BJMC and MJMC, fashion and jewellery design, fine arts (BFA, MFA), physiotherapy (BPT, MPT), yogic sciences and B.Ed. Students can also prepare for professional qualifications such as CA, CS and ACCA alongside their degrees. The campus has hostels, a central library, research and computer labs, and sports facilities, and the university runs its own community radio station, Radio 7 FM, which it started in 2005. India Today ranked IIS 38th among private universities in 2023, and Outlook placed it 24th for mass communication in 2019. Admissions run in rounds each year, with spot rounds for unfilled UG and PG seats.
