About Hindusthan College of Engineering and Technology (HCET)
History and Background
About Hindusthan College of Engineering and Technology (HiCET), Coimbatore Hindusthan College of Engineering and Technology, known as HiCET, was established in 2000. It is on the Valley Campus on the Pollachi Highway at Othakkalmandapam, Coimbatore. It belongs to the Hindusthan group of institutions in the city. HiCET is affiliated to Anna University, Chennai, and approved by AICTE. It became autonomous in 2016, and since then it has framed its own regulations, starting with the 2016 scheme, and run its own examinations through a controller of examinations. The college publishes an academic handbook and an examination process manual for students. The B.E. list covers the main engineering branches and a few specialised ones: Computer Science and Engineering and Information Technology Electronics and Communication, and Electrical and Electronics Engineering Mechanical, Automobile and Aeronautical Engineering Civil Engineering Postgraduates can choose M.E. programmes and an MBA. The MBA department publishes its own student newsletter. B.E. admission is through TNEA counselling, which ranks students on Class 12 marks, and the remaining seats go through the management quota. M.E. and MBA admissions use TANCET scores, and GATE qualifiers can apply for M.E. seats. An internal quality assurance cell oversees teaching standards and documentation. As an autonomous college, HiCET can revise its syllabus without waiting for a university-wide revision.
