History and Background

About Himalayiya University, Dehradun Himalayiya University is a private state university in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, created under the Himalayiya University Act, 2019 (Uttarakhand Act No. 8 of 2019). It now operates under the name Sparsh Himalaya University. The university was set up by a society of educationists and professionals who wanted an institution that would serve the rural areas around Dehradun as well as students from other states, and it states that it is recognised by the UGC under Section 2(f). Teaching is organised into schools that lean towards health sciences, media and applied subjects rather than engineering. The schools cover yogic science and naturopathy, paramedical and health sciences, computer applications, journalism and mass communication, commerce, management studies, hotel management, arts and humanities, and acting and performing arts. BNYS (Bachelor of Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences) BPT, BMLT and BMRIT in paramedical sciences BCA BBA (General), BBA (Aviation and Hospitality) and B.Voc in Airport Management BJMC and MJMC B.A. with a choice of three subjects, including Music Health science courses include laboratory sessions and clinical postings, and media students train in reporting, anchoring, video production and digital content.
