History and Background
About Eminent College of Management and Technology, Kolkata Eminent College of Management and Technology (ECMT) is a private college on the edge of Barasat, in North 24 Parganas, just outside Kolkata. The campus is set among parks and playgrounds, away from the heavier traffic of the city, but close enough to it for daily travel. ECMT is affiliated to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT), West Bengal, the state technical university that was earlier called the West Bengal University of Technology. That university was set up under a 2001 state law and began academic work on 16 July 2001. The college's programmes come under the AICTE. The college focuses on undergraduate management and computing courses: BBA BBA in Hospital Management BCA Admission follows MAKAUT rules, with students joining after Class 12 on the basis of their marks and the college's own admission process. The hospital management stream is meant for students who want to work in the administrative side of hospitals and healthcare companies, while the BCA prepares students for IT jobs or a later MCA. The college says it takes an industry-oriented approach to teaching and tries to link students with businesses through an innovation centre, public lectures and community service. It has a language lab used for speaking, writing and reading practice, which also supports placement tests. Students take part in co-curricular activities and social events such as blood donation camps held on campus.
