About Dyal Singh Evening College, Delhi Dyal Singh Evening College sits on Lodi Road in New Delhi and is a college of the University of Delhi that holds its classes in the evening. It began in 1959 as a constituent college of the university, and in 1978 the University of Delhi took it over as a university-maintained institution. Its roots go back to Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, the founder of The Tribune and Punjab National Bank, who left his estate to a trust for a secular college. That trust opened Dyal Singh College in Lahore in 1910. After Partition, educationist Dewan Anand Kumar set up two colleges in Majithia's name in India, one in Karnal and this one in Delhi. The college teaches undergraduate courses in arts and commerce. The current list includes: B.Com (Hons) and B.Com Programme B.A. (Hons) English B.A. (Hons) Political Science B.A. (Hons) History B.A. Programme Admission is through the University of Delhi's Common Seat Allocation System, based on CUET (UG) scores. The college gives a relaxation to women students and to those who pick languages such as Punjabi, Urdu, Tamil or Sanskrit. Around 3,000 students are enrolled. The campus is close to the Delhi Metro and has an open-air amphitheatre, play grounds, a newer academic block with a computer lab, a seminar hall and an auditorium.
