History and Background
About DY Patil College of Engineering & Technology, Kolhapur D.Y. Patil College of Engineering and Technology (DYPCET) is at Kasaba Bawada in Kolhapur. It was founded on 6 August 1984 and has been teaching engineering for more than four decades. It is part of the D.Y. Patil group of institutions in the city. The college is unaided and self-financing, approved by AICTE and recognised by the Government of Maharashtra. In 2020 the UGC and Shivaji University granted it autonomous status, so it now sets its own syllabus and conducts its own exams. Degrees are still awarded through Shivaji University. NBA has re-accredited three of its undergraduate programmes. The college offers: B.Tech in several engineering branches B.Arch M.Tech in selected specialisations B.Tech seats are filled through the Maharashtra CAP rounds, which use MHT CET and JEE Main scores, under DTE institute code 6250. B.Arch admission needs a NATA score, and M.Tech admission is through GATE. DYPCET says its aim is to turn out technically competent engineers who care about quality and keep social and environmental concerns in mind. It has a placement cell, and the college lists both multinational companies and start-ups among its recruiters.
