About DMI College of Engineering
History and Background
About DMI College of Engineering, Chennai DMI College of Engineering stands at Palanchoor, about 5 km from Poonamallee on the Chennai-Bangalore National Highway, on the western side of Chennai. Its campus covers 55 acres. Rev. Fr. J.E. Arulraj founded the college in 2001. It is managed by the Sisters of the Society of DMI, a congregation he started in 1984 that also runs schools, hospitals and welfare projects. The college is a Christian minority institution. It is approved by AICTE and the Government of Tamil Nadu and affiliated to Anna University, Chennai. Teaching began with three undergraduate departments: Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Information Technology. Electrical and Electronics Engineering came in 2002, and MCA and MBA programmes followed in 2006. Current undergraduate options are: B.E. Computer Science and Engineering, and B.Tech Information Technology B.E. Electronics and Communication, and Electrical and Electronics Engineering B.E. Mechanical, Civil and Aeronautical Engineering There are also M.E. courses, for example Applied Electronics and Communication Systems. B.E. and B.Tech admission is through TNEA, the Tamil Nadu single-window counselling based on Class 12 marks, and some seats are filled under the minority and management quotas. M.E., MBA and MCA admission is through TANCET, and GATE scores are also accepted for M.E.
