About Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College
History and Background
About Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College, Delhi Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College (DDUC) is a constituent college of the University of Delhi. The Government of NCT of Delhi set it up in 1990 at Karampura, and the college has since moved to a new campus in Sector 3, Dwarka. The Delhi government funds it fully, and it is recognised by UGC under Sections 2(f) and 12(B). Students come from Delhi and from neighbouring states such as Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar. Its undergraduate programmes include: B.Sc (Hons.) in Computer Science, Electronics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology and Mathematics B.A. (Hons.) English and B.Com (Hons.) Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS) B.Sc programmes in Physical Science, Life Science and Mathematical Science, and B.A. Programme Add-on courses are also popular, especially Russian and a theatre-based course in communication and personality development. A French certificate course was added more recently. DDUC also hosts a centre of the Non-Collegiate Women's Education Board (NCWEB), through which women can study for a University of Delhi degree without joining a regular college. The faculty has more than 90 permanent teachers, and three of them have won distinguished teacher awards. The library started in 1990 with about 2,200 books and now has around 50,000 documents in a fully computerised system. Admission follows the University of Delhi process under CUET-UG, with separate sports and ECA quotas. Students run societies for music, literature, botany and more.
