History and Background
About College of Engineering, Bhubaneswar College of Engineering Bhubaneswar, usually shortened to COEB, is a private engineering college at Plot No. 1(A) on Infocity Road in Patia, in the IT and education belt of north Bhubaneswar. It opened in 1999 and is part of the Koustuv Educational Group. The college says more than 10,000 students have graduated from it since it began. The college is affiliated to Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT), Odisha's state technical university, and its B.Tech programmes are approved by AICTE. Teaching covers engineering, computer applications and management at several levels: B.Tech in Computer Science, Civil, Electrical, Electronics and Telecommunication, and Mechanical Engineering Diploma in Engineering in the matching branches M.Tech in Structural Engineering and in Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering BBA, BCA, MBA and MCA B.Tech seats at BPUT-affiliated colleges are filled mainly through OJEE counselling, which also admits candidates on JEE Main scores. The college also runs its own application process for the remaining seats each session. The campus has air-conditioned classrooms with smart boards, department laboratories (including computing, robotics and IoT labs), a central library of over 50,000 volumes with e-journals, a research and innovation centre, and Wi-Fi across the buildings. There are separate hostels for boys and girls, along with grounds for cricket and basketball and a gym. A training and placement cell runs coding practice, aptitude sessions and mock interviews, and arranges internships, industrial visits and campus drives. Recent recruiters include TCS and Tech Mahindra. The college also hosts an international conference listed on its website.
