About CMR - School of Legal Studies
History and Background
About CMR - School of Legal Studies, Bangalore CMR School of Legal Studies, now run as the School of Law of CMR University, has taught law in Bangalore for about two decades. It works from the university's city campus at OMBR Layout near Bhuvanagiri in east Bangalore and is part of the CMR group of institutions. The law school is approved by the Bar Council of India, so its degrees qualify graduates to enrol as advocates. It has academic collaborations with the National Law School of India University and with the Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology (KSCST), and it has been ranked among the better law schools in the country by Outlook magazine. Programmes cover the integrated, three-year and postgraduate routes into law: B.A., LL.B. (Hons) B.B.A., LL.B. (Hons) B.Com., LL.B. (Hons) LL.B. (three years) LL.M. in Commercial Law and in Constitutional and Criminal Law PG Diploma in Air and Space Law For the three-year LL.B, applicants need a degree in any discipline with at least 45 percent marks for general category, 42 percent for OBC and 40 percent for SC and ST students. Admission to the five-year integrated courses follows the university's own process after Class 12. Teaching mixes classroom work with moot courts, debates and design thinking modules, and student clubs include a Moot Court Club, Loquitur, a Writers Circle and a Social Impact Club. The school also offers scholarships and placement support for its law graduates.
