History and Background
About Christ College of Engineering and Technology, Pondicherry Christ College of Engineering and Technology (CCET) is at Pitchaveeranpet, Moolakulam, on the western side of Puducherry town. It opened in 2007 under the Sam Paul Educational Trust, founded by Dr. S. R. S. Paul, a philanthropist, entrepreneur and sportsman. The college is affiliated to Pondicherry University, approved by AICTE and accredited by NAAC. It offers B.Tech in six branches and two postgraduate management and computer courses: Computer Science and Engineering Information Technology Electronics and Communication Engineering Electrical and Electronics Engineering Mechanical Engineering Civil Engineering MBA and MCA CCET puts a lot of weight on university exam results. The college counts more than 150 Pondicherry University rank holders and several gold medallists since it started, and in one recent result, 78 of its students were placed in the top 10 ranks of their programmes. The trust gives fee support to students who score well but come from poor families. Labs, a digital library with national and international journals, and regular workshops, seminars and inter-college symposiums support the teaching. A recent example is a two-day workshop on testing electronic devices. Students also do a structured industrial internship as part of the course, and the college reports placements with multinational and core engineering companies since its first batch.
